Coupled Analysis of Heat Transfer in a Molten Pool With Three-Layer Configuration

Understanding a reliable description of the heat transfer in molten pool with three-layer configuration is inevitable for design severe accident mitigation measures research reactors, such as IVR-ERVC. However, investigations on thick lower metallic layer are scarce. Thus, further studies highly required, based previous light water reactors. This study conducts numerical simulation during accident, combining model development, code verification, and application. First, MPCAP has been developed, coupled natural convection inside pool, two-dimensional conduction RPV head, outside reactor vessel wall. Then, verification case conducted using AP1000. The AP1000 indicates that predicts important parameters well.
